SUMMARY:Bowers Museum: Persian Family Norouz Festival
DESCRIPTION:Event expands the knowledge of history, tradition, and cus
 toms of Persian New Year from Ancient Persia to modern Iran .\n\nBower
 s Museum will host the Iranian-Persian New Year in its courtyard with 
 authentic Persian music, dance, art, literature, videos, and childrenâ
 €™s activities focusing on Norouz traditions on Sunday, March 7, 2010.
 \n\nThe program is co-sponsored by the Persian Cultural Arts Council (
 Affiliate of Bowers Museum). Admission is free.\nHere is the list of t
 he activities and entertainment:\n\nNoted choreographer Anna Djanbazia
 n and artistic director of Anna Djanbazian Dance Company will perform 
 Persian traditional dances with beautiful traditional costumes.\nPersi
 an performances include Persian music masters of Yarsan ensemble, Kour
 osh Moradi, Afshin Mehrasa, Kourosh Basiri, Faramarz Amiri; Persian da
 ncer Ladan Homayoun; and Persian Pop Dancer Bahar (with music by D J A
 mir.)\nA glamorous Haft Seen ceremonial table designed by Samira Weddi
 ngs will be featured. Haft Seen includes seven specific items represen
 ting health, wealth, longevity, fertility and more.\nUncle Norouz (sim
 ilar to Santa Claus) will be wishing everyone a happy Persian New Year
 .\nA traditional Persian Tea House will serve complimentary Persian te
 a and Persian sweets throughout the festival. Eating sweets on Norouz 
 brings sweetness to life in the coming year.\nA documentary, â€śIn the
  Foot Steps of Cyrus The Greatâ€ť by Cyrus Kar, will be featured in th
 e Norma Kershaw Auditorium. The film is on the life of King Cyrus, the
  first Achaemenian king of ancient Persia .\nJamie Douraghy will exhib
 it Rostam Comic Books for children. Rostam is the mythical Iranian her
 o in Shahnameh. The Epic of Kings is one of the definitive literature 
 classics of the world and was written by the famous Iranian poet, Ferd
 owsi.\nThe cartoon, Babak and Friends, will be featured. Directed by D
 ustin J. Ellis, the cartoon is the story of little Babak, who is not f
 amiliar with the traditions of the Persian New Year. When his cousins 
 visit, little Bobby realizes that he is missing out on the Best Day of
  the Year. With the help of friends and a trip to the ancient capital 
 of the Persian Empire, Persepolis, Babak learns about Norouz and rejoi
 ces in the rich culture of Iran.\nProminent artist Reza Sepahdari will
  demonstrate Plaster relief techniques as seen in the Ancient palace o
 f Persepolis .\nProminant artists Jila and Touraj Hakimi from OC Fine 
 Arts will display their glass art creations. The husband-and-wife arti
 sts will also offer an opportunity to participate in arts and crafts.\
 nDr. Khosrow Sobhe, Certified Rug Specialist of SOBCO International, w
 ill be exhibiting beautiful Persian rugs, and an artisan will be demon
 strating Persian carpet weaving on an actual loom and showing techniqu
 es of this magnificent ancient Persian art form.\nDavoud Sesar and Gha
 zal will offer Persian calligraphy and Manijeh will demonstrate her ar
 t of painting on silk scarves.\n\nDr. A. Kamron Jabbari, president of 
 Mazda Publishers, Inc., will exhibit a collection of Persian books of 
 academic value and quality.\nBardi Borghei will exhibit her book Persi
 an Miniature paintings, paintings and hand painted cards.\nMohamad Ami
 ni Sam from Jamshid Foundation will exhibit his book, â€śThe pictorial
  History of Iranâ€ť and posters on history of Iran .\nCSU Fullerton st
 udents will have an information table on the schoolâ€™s Persian Studie
 s program.\nStudents from California Zoroastrian Center , Khayam Persi
 an School Foundation, and Mrs. Sorour Nayeri Persian Language School w
 ill sing and perform Persian Music and dances.\nChildrenâ€™s activitie
 s feature arts and crafts, traditional Persian New Year custom of colo
 ring eggs, growing Sabzeh (wheat grass, lintel grass, and mung beans g
 rass), making Norouz greeting cards, learning about Haft seen items, f
 ace painting, costumes, Norouz crafts, and dancing.\nThere will also b
 e Poetry Reading and Bibliomancy from world-renowned Iranian Poets, Ha
